| The fight was in Arena 2, one of the small arenas, but there was still enough public to make anyone nervous. The challengers are waiting behind doors for the Announcer, a Mettaton, to call their names. The small arena is a simple flat oval space surrounded by bleachers, smaller than the Main Arena in the center of the building. Cameras and projectors hung from the ceiling and big screens were placed on the walls to help the public to see the bight from every angles.
The first challenger, Lord, is called in the Arena. He's a Swapfell Sans with a little crown scotched on his head. In his hand, he has a sword made of bones.

| Warden waited for his name to be called, already preparing his own attacks for when the battle was supposed to begin. Nothing visible yet of course, but definitely keeping it at his fingertips until he was allowed to attack. He would be fighting fair until his opponent did something unjust.
After a few more moments had passed he heard his name announced by the Mettaton overseeing the fight, and the door in front of him opened. The arena itself was modest, but he spared it little more than a glance to see if anything would provide any sort of advantage. There didn't seem to be anything, So his attention focused instead on the monster ahead of him.
They were a Sans, then, although they didn't look like the usual lazy kind of brother either. Probably from one of the more dangerous universes, judging by the burns they had, which were either to show their power or a punishment they had received. Either way, they weren't the same worthless garbage as his own brother, and Warden tried to avoid thinking of him too low. He had signed up to fight after all, so he was either stupid or he was strong.
A whip began to take shape, stretching from his hand down to the ground. Warden watched his opponent carefully, hoping to prepare himself for an attack as well as gauge their reaction. He was in a battle stance now, on the defensive as he waited to see what their first attack would be.

"Readyyyyyy? Fight!"
Screamed the Announcer.
Lord didn't waist any time. This Papyrus was huge compared to what he was used to. And this one wasn't going to kneel just by an order. Playing with his sword a moment, he studied his opponent. The whip was dangerous, he could deal damage without coming in contact with such a weapon, he had to be careful. He rolled on his side to approach the side where the Papyrus wasn't wearing his whip and tried an estoc with his sword.

| Warden had experience, but speed had never been a strong suit for him. The other monster had managed to get around him fast enough that he didn't have enough time to turn before being struck by their sword. He took a few steps away from them, partially from recoil and more to try and create distance between them, before bringing up a wall of bones and sending it towards the other monster to give himself time to recover. Next time, he hoped to be ready. | |

Full of confidence with this first successful attack, Lord decided to give the public a little show. He jumped easily over the wall of bones and even made a roll once on the floor again. Readjusting his little crown, he tried to strike again but this time from the front, to show his opponent that he wasn't scared of him. He targeted the Papyrus arm hoping to make him lose it so he would be defenceless.

| Warden brought his other arm up to block the sword, hoping that his armor and a hastily conjured attack would at least be enough to keep it from sustaining any permanent damage, but even with that the sword came down hard on his arm, pushing him back again and doing more damage than he was comfortable with. There wasn't enough room for this here, and having his back to a wall would be a worst case scenario.
He repositioned himself again, determinedly ignoring his injured arm and bearing down on the Sans with his whip. It would arch through the air at a diagonal angle, if not hitting then at least forcing them to move out of the way, hopefully further from him. Trying to fight at close range with them would be more trouble than it was probably worth, even with the slight advantage of height he had.

His confidence fell the moment he felt the kiss of the whip on his bones. At he hated it? The violence of the impact torn his battle body, leaving him almost shirtless in from of everyone. His little crown was sent away from him and he found himself on the other side of the Arena. His sword was at the Papyrus's feets and his wound was burning him. He had to put a knee on the floor just to stand up again. He had to be more careful or else he would lose. Without his weapon, he improvised a bone pattern and sent it to the huge monster. He placed himself between two charges of bones and ran, trying to get closer and get back his weapon.

| There, that was what he had needed. He took the opportunity to reposition himself while his opponent recovered, trying to keep his injured arm from moving too much and causing problems. It felt cracked, but that was easy enough to fix. The bone pattern was easy enough to avoid, with the few attacks that did hit dealing a trivial amount of damage compared to previous injuries.
Some may have argued that being in front of a crowd, you should provide the audience with more of a show. They were at least part of why these fights were happening at all, but he disagreed. Besides, his whip arching through the air towards the opposing skeleton, that brief moment while it was coursing through the air with a slight magic glow, should be enough for both them and for a final blow.

It was over. He always thought he was a champion, he could win anything. He became a king in his own timeline. And now, he lost to a Papyrus. He took the blow full force, his own bones prevented him to see the attack. Again, the burning feeling of the whip on his bones reminded him of his mistake. He was, again, sent to the other side of the arena. He tried to stay up, really. But his HP fell to 0,001... He didn't feel good. He couldn't stand on his feets anymore and fell on both knee. The public went wild and applauded, screaming Warden's name as the announcer screamed the name of the winner too. Medics came in the Arena to take care of both monsters.

| Warden watched for a moment longer, until there were medics tending to their injuries and he was able to fully realize how much damage had been done there. His armor had taken some of the force but there were still cracks along his arm and what at least looked like a bad slash against his lower vertebrae. He may have been trained to take damage well but that certainly didn't make it hurt any less.
He would follow them out of the area, smiling slightly at the sound of his name. He wouldn't admit it, but it felt good to hear people saying it in a positive context for once. He hadn't realized how long it had been since he had gotten at least some reasonable form of respect from someone who might actually admire him instead of fear him.
(It was good, seems I still have my all or nothing roll luck)
